Group
I lead a research group at IGISOL/JYFLTRAP, funded by my Research Council of Finland Academy Research Fellowship (MASSPASS) and the University of Jyväskylä.
Members #
- Miikka Winter — PhD student under my supervision. Penning-trap mass and Q-value measurements with JYFLTRAP; first-author paper on ¹²⁹Sb (Eur. Phys. J. A 62, 123 (2026) ). Projects: involved in low-Q-value decays and MASSPASS; main project in nuclear astrophysics studies.
Former members #
- Dr. Brian Kootte — was a postdoctoral researcher in the group, supported by my project funding. Project: MASSPASS — mass measurements of N = Z nuclei.
- Dr. Marlom de Oliveira Ramalho — was a postdoctoral researcher in the group, supported by my project funding; nuclear-structure theory for rare and low-Q β decays. Project: low-Q-value decays for the neutrino mass.
Teaching #
- FYSS3552 — Lasers and Traps in Nuclear Physics Studies, PhD course, University of Jyväskylä
Editorial #
- Guest editor, Sensors special issue Detectors & Sensors in Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Astrophysics
Nuclear-physics groups and facilities #
Selected groups, host facilities and experiments relevant to our research. These links distinguish the host laboratory from the individual instrument; they do not imply membership in every collaboration.

- ISOLTRAP — CERN ISOLDE
- ISOLDE — CERN
- TITAN — TRIUMF
- LEBIT — FRIB
- FRS Ion Catcher — GSI/FAIR
- FAIR — Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research

- ISNAP — Institute for Structure and Nuclear Astrophysics, Notre Dame
- ELI-NP — Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics, Romania
How facilities and mass measurement experiments fit together
A host institution operates a facility; a facility supplies beams to distinct experiments; an experiment uses one or more instruments. This guide describes those relationships, rather than a staff roster or a list of collaborations.
